My name is Allen. Just to give you a little background, for the longest time I've wanted to fly rc, both helicopters and airplanes. So to start off a couple years ago I bought a 180 size fixed pitch helicopter and loved even just being able to hover it. I've tried to learn as much as I can about helicopters (including principles and set up), played around on a simulator and just started trying to hover around in the backyard. Since then I have bought an HK 250 and a KDS 450 and love tinkering with them. The problem is I have had no instruction whatsoever, so I'm really only at the point of barely hovering. I really want to also fly airplanes, I have the itch, but I haven’t tried it at all, other than on a simulator. I’m really excited to go further into this hobby, so I figured if I want to get good at it, I should probably finally join a club this spring.
I’ve been looking into the clubs around the area to determine really which is closer to me (I’m in Middle Sackville), provides the best training program, and is a good fit for what I’m looking for, etc. Right now, I’m leaning toward Avon Flyers. As I mentioned, I’m interested in both airplanes and helicopters. Do you guys run a Wings Program? Also, do you run a Blades Program? Blades Programs seem to be hard to find so I figured I would ask. As far as airplanes go, do you have club trainers? Would I need to train on my own plane, once I get one, hopefully in the next few weeks? Do you have buddy boxes, etc.? What brand of transmitter, just so I get one that is compatible? Any extra info you can provide would be great. Here's hoping spring gets here quickly, I've had enough of this winter.
