Did some work to the snot rocket today...

Intake joiner and lower bye pass cover fitted, trimmed and installed.  Notice the high tech velcro.

Fuel pickup for the primary fuselage tank.  The brass tube in the middle is there due to the baffle in the tank.  Barbs and lock wire make it a bullet proof setup that will not fall apart.  Felt clunk should help with fuel pickup according to Comp ARF.  Hopefully it will be air tight.

primary tank.  Very nice quality.  2.2 liters should be good for a little over 2 minutes of wot.

rear fuel tank holding bracket.  Simple but effective.

Flap and elevator servos.  Different mounting method but is very solid.  Everything is Hysol'd together...it ain't movin.

Kingtech FOD screen with grommet installed for the fuel lines.  Kind of a crude method but Kingtech did not build in any provisions to get the fuel lines through the screen...rather irritating.  Not sure why they don't incorporate the FOD screen into the turbine instead of making it an option like Wren does.

Horizontal stab.  The servos were a very tight fit.  I wished they would make the stab 2 or 3mm thicker as this would allow the use of any standard sized servos instead of the 8411's which are 1mm or so thinner than a 5995 or equivalent Futaba.  I like the aluminum L brackets..lined up perfect and very rigid.  Waiting on the servo horns.

Are you going with the felt on the end?  Comparf told me not to use it if there is another filter in the system. They said there may be too much drag on the pump.

Well, that is a highly debated topic on the UF thread over on RCU.  None of the guys seem to have issues with the felt clunk with 160's.  I have my aprehensions but I am going to give it a try and see what happens.  If it is going to be an issue it should show up at WOT (air bubbles in the line between the UAT and main fuse tank)....or i may remove the felt all together...haven't decided.

Started mounting the canopy to the canopy frame last evening.  I hate mounting canopies.  They are not fun.  I am glad it is done (except for waiting for the glue to dry and spraying the tint).  The tape was used to prevent scratches on the top of the canopy during the cut and test phase.

pretty neat nose gear door setup.  One hinge at the front.  Airflow keeps the door in the up position while in flight and the trailing link strut pushes it down to help slow it down for landing.  The door is made out of carbon.

Canopy ready for paint.  Tried painting it this evening with Pactra smoke tink however it was an epic fail.  Managed to clean 99% of it off.  Just going to paint it gloss black instead to try and coverup the mess.

I wouldn't attempt the tint unless you have an airbrush. Control from a can is a crap shoot at best. I have done them using the airbrush and car body tints and you have better control on making even coats. Also, it is easy to put too much on if you are looking to make it semi transparent... Put a light coat on, then stick it on the plane to see if it needs more.

Yeah i tried a few practice pieces with the spray bomb after my epic failure and i couldn't get it to look right.  I have painted lexan with the regular polycarbonate paint and it always turns out good. I don't have an airbrush so spray bomb it will have to be.
