Well, anyone who tried to get to the field today was made terribly aware that Martock was running some kind of charity run cum fund raiser thingy - their site said there were 8000 pre registered participants. Problem was they forgot to tell the highway patrol and the backup started between exit 4 and 5. Most of us managed to get to 5A, or the Falmouth exit, and managed with only an extra hour tagged onto our trip.

Unfortunately, both Al Coolen and Tod Fowler  were caught in the 7 car pile up on the highway and were rear-ended, with nasty results. While both are now home, beaten and bruised, on pain killers and muscle relaxants, their vans, and the contents, were destroyed.

Terrible property loss for both our guys, but thank God they seem to be all right..

Glad to hear you guys are OK.  I saw the emergency vehicles heading down the hwy while getting to the field.  What a frigging fubar the traffic was!!  Somebody mentioned 12,000 people, in all, descending on Windsor. (Spectators and participants) If that's accurate no wonder there were problems!!  Anyway, Al and Todd, hope you heal fast and nothing serious develops.

Hi Guys
Heading up to the field yesterday at 110 clicks when I noticed some guy on the other side flashing his lights.Next thing I knew some guy was coming over the hill waving a sign to slow down.
I believe it took me almost an hour to get to the field from that point.

I hope you guys are alright.

Thanks for the kind words guys.

I'm a little sore for sure but I though I'd be a lot worse then I am.
They took me away in an ambulance all strapped down on a back board but I told them I was too evil to be hurt too bad. LOL
Joking aside I think I'm lucky to be alive. The build in safety in modern day  vehicles saved me and is truly amazing.
My van and planes did not fair as well. Time will tell how that will unfold.

I googled neck stuff, and there are bottle necks, necks of land, V necks, sled necks, tough necks, Red necks all kinds of neck stuff, goose and otherwise...in the end, kind of thought this was the appropriate one  Smiley

super glad you guys are OK..

Sheesh Sandy, that neck pic you posted seems like it could be a Freudian slip resulting from the  colonoscopy you recently had.
Sure looks like it could be used for colonoscopies!!!!

Dan I was inspired by the thought that if he ever looked in his mirror again and saw a coming episode like the  "event"  on Saturday he could, if he had time, kiss his a** goodbye...

but now that you mention it, certainly the light would come in handy for the "other proctological event"

Just reading this post now.

Glad to learn that Todd and Al are both recovering well and that both have retained their sense of humour.  As Al said, modern cars and vans are well designed. But it doesn't change my shock at learning that two of our pilots were injured on the highway.  Rear- enders are bad news as there is absolutely nothing that you can do to prevent them.

Get well quick....hope to soon read that both of you have been to the field.

Hi Al and Todd,  I just read about your incident. That is terrible.. Glad you guys are okay.

Sorry about your gear but you can rebuild that,  hard to rebuild yourself.
