Title: New Projects????
Post by Steve Mosher on Jan 31st, 2015 at 4:45pm
Any new projects on the building table?

I have nothing on the go. I didn't fly enough last summer to crash a bunch of stuff - I plan to rectify that this year to clear out some room in my building area. ;D ;) ;D

At my usual building pace, all my new projects are really 2013 projects, and I refuse to give the vultures the opportunity to torture me..... >:(

Started building A Don Smith B-24 Liberator, 146" span 90" long. Just finished cutting the kit. Strega will make its maiden flight this year.

What does that Hurricane Kit count as Sandy?  ::)

Edit:  My apologies Sandy I got that confused with the Hurricane ARF which is in fact flying or did fly...   :)

Apology accepted Ben  >:(.... actually the ESM hurricane which scared so many at Margaree did fly some more. Then, as happened so often, while a Spitfire pilot was in the cockpit being checked out, the airfield was bounced. Heroically  :Raa Raa the pilot tried to take off and engage the attackers, but the landing gear hit a bomb crater and flipped the craft. Damage is relatively minor  :) ( compared with what I would have achieved )  :-/. Appropriate cabinet makers, clothiers and painters have been alerted and repairs are forthcoming  [smiley=tekst-toppie.gif] or at my speed they may be fifthcoming or even sixthcoming....

I'm picking away at a 60 Ultra Sport to replace the one that surprised all present by rolling quickly to the left at 3 meters AGL.  The resulting crash was spectacular.

Anyway; the replacement will start out as an Ultra Sport but I'm going modify it a bit...replace strip ailerons with slotted flaps and outboard ailerons, Lado electric retracts, fibre glass covering, and some sort of WW II camo....possibly Luftwaffe.

I'm crossing my fingers that the OS 61 from the crash victim will be up for duty in the new version.

Yes; it will have guns.

It will be heavy, something like 10 pounds, but it may look nice in the air.

Smiley emoticon goes here.  Yes; I do remember that Kougar; it was a really nice looking plane.  The only one I ever painted with epoxy paint.  That's probably a good thing.

Luftwaffe paint scheme; yup.  It would be fun.  Do you remember my Mikersmitt (you helped me cut the foam wing cores)?  It had a cool Luftwaffe paint scheme.  I may try to do something like I did with that one.

Well, I am eyes, and ears into setting up my FPV system. Got a set of Dominator version 2's and am setting up my Radian Pro with a pan and tilt head tracking system....awesome. Also added FPV to my DJI Phantom quad, so I can keep an eye on the flying around the field, from up there :D :D :D
