General rules...not to follow
1) do not ASSUME anything, on first Day of flying season, it will make an Ass out of u and me. >:(
2) no matter how hard you prep for the Day, something will always go wrong... :o
3) when you plug your battery condition BarLed...Do not choose the Flaperon channel on the Receiver.. :D
4) Do not blame the Rx or Equipment, it is always generally the Pilot. ::)

I even had the flaperon Channel marked on the Fuse :-/
;)

I know the feeling, Jack. Was out last Sunday for the first time in a year and couldn't remember what all the button on the Tx did (i.e. high / low ratres, throttle trim) - pulled a few boners myself. :)
