There are fake dle 55s out there.
They don't seem to have performance problems

They waste nothing
So the QC rejects get put aside
They appear to be then bought by mom & pop outfits
That make Frankenstein engines and box them in look alike boxes

I took a look at a dle30 at hobby wholesale
The real engines have laser engraved serial numbers

The fakes have poorly engraved serials
The castings are such that you can see the difference

My chief concern is the carb
The fake ones may have fake crappy carbs
If your dle does not run right
Then the solution may be to buy a legit carb

These fakes seem to run ok - at least that's what the fora seem to say

RCG engines appear to be fake RCGF engines
RCGFand DLE are equivalent quality engines

DLE engines are actually improved DA engines which were cloned


YS engines are looking more attractive
This clone of clones
And Frankenstein fakes
Makes buying these things a nightmare

God only knows what DLAs are.

This issue (knock offs) has been,is and will be around for a long time to come.  The caveats have been posted on many forums over the years with advice on what identifies them.

When making an engine purchase it all goes back to the same old story, research, research.....

I bought my DLE 30 from Wild Hare R/C as a package deal. It has run okay in the past, but I would never say flawlessly. Sure raises a flag with me.

Mine has engraved serial, although I do not know if it is laser engraving. Looks okay.

Who knows. The carb says DLE on the bottom plate. Don't suppose that would be hard for them to fake as well. If it does not run right this time, there will be a wild hare bonfire, DLE (Clone) included.

Nonononono don't do that... I'll take it and fix it.

Dave...next time it goes in, it will be a complete re-kit ;) 1200.00 lawn dart if you will.  :D
