Title: Revolver to 20cc gas
Post by waverider on Apr 10th, 2012 at 12:47pm
This is my first venture into gasification

Job 1 - two servos, one each for the elevators
Job 2 - pull pull for the rudder
job 3  - remove a nice 91FS installation and do the   conversion
job 4 - Install all the electronics
job 5 - build and install the fuel system

Elevator Servo Install
It basically has to go here
I am worried the elevator push rods and the rudder horn/pull pull system may interfere
It looks close
we shall see :-X

Pull Pull Rudder Install

I left the elevator push rod rudder pull pull question unanswered

Make for some white knuckle excitement for an Old fart

Engine Mount
This is problematic
I do not want to cut up the nice firewall to make way for the outside width of the engine mount(s) at the firewall connection

My RCG 20cc engine is very slightly wider than the DLE20cc
I know from internet pictures that the Great Planes 120 size mount fits better than the stock mount that comes with the engine  but the Great planes mount requires some hacksaw surgery and the glass filled mount does not power sand well -it melts
So I cut up a $10 120 size engine mount to see if it would fit.
We shall see in the future
I have my eye on a Dubro http://www.greathobbies.com/productinfo/?prod_id=DUB688 engine mount.  But I do not have dimensions at the firewall

So lets look at the engine and mount assy offered up to the firewall.  The thrust line is a concern.  I may have to go 1/4 inch above the stock position with the engine

It seems like isolation mounts
- will not fit
- probably should not be used

Now to learn how to balance the prop and spinner every which way from Sunday

You may want to go on You Tube and search
RC prop balancing or a search of that nature.
I'm sure once you see the demo it will be clear on how to balance prop tips, hub (centre section) and, spinner.
Can be tedious but well worth the effort.
