I bought  this built/airframe last summer for a winter project and have been modifying it to meet my needs.

Specs; for Super D
- 135" wingspan
-fuselage length 96"
-weight 39.8 lbs (will be) Specs call for 38 to 40 lbs.

Modifications;
- firewall (added 1/8" G10)front and back of wafer board
  firewall(light-Strong)!
- re-desined servo mounts for smaller servos
- Cowling (to be done) cooling vents and screening
-  eliminated servo extension connectors and soldered the long
   leads
-  re-worked wiring for lights
-  removed non structural items to reduce weight

Installed the following new flight systems;
- DLE 120 cc engine (work to be done on exhaust)
- Skywriter smoke pump (from my Pawnee)
- 7655 HiTec servos (330 in. ozs. torque)
- fuel/smoke systems

More to do over the winter.....

Been working on the engine box.
With the relatively short nose on the Super D and, the servos at the back, I'm preparing for (all up-front batteries) to obtain the CG.

As shown in pic, I'm using both sides of the engine box covers to fasten the batteries and the ignition. If all or some of the batteries  aren't needed in the front they can be easily shifted to behind the firewall.

Batteries; ( 6.6V  A123's)
- (2) 3850mah   for RX. and (2) separate switches
- (1) 2500 mah  for ignition
- (1) 2500 mah  for smoke pump (may increase voltage)
- (1) 9V for lights (servo actuated micro switch)

I've been working on scale detail inside the cabin.
Using hook/loop velcro makes a good (removable) fastening system for the scale objects yet, should remain secure in flight.

Added the following items;
-first aid kit
- dash board
-seat belts
-cargo net
-pilot
-maps
-Included is a survival kit in the event of an unscheduled landing in a cornfield or river.

A few remaining items to be done...

Thanks for the comments guys.
Moving forward;
-installed side vents to cowl and cut out bottom/installed screen
-added additional detail to outside of fuselage.
-used flexible material for detail items on fuselage

Finished cutting and painting the spinner..
More fine tuning and set the CG.
Thought I would give these servo arms a try.

I assembled the plane to set the deflections and DR's etc.
A little difficult with a wingspan of over 11 ft. in the space I had.
Finished battery mounts and other small adjustments.
Setting the CG will need to wait until favourable weather.
I'll be suspending it 7" back on the wing root.

Lots of little details Dan.  Nice and scale.

There's going to be lots of large planes around this year.  We're going to need to book space in the pits for them all! Grin
