thank you kind sir.....loosening the cover then pressurizing the system till gas flows from under the diaphram is easier than taking everything off and putting it to soak.... Smiley

From what i've read, it sounds very common and not a flaw, just part of getting a new DLE running for the first time. Let me know how it works out....Mike

Mike - last Saturday tried this "loose cover" trick - nada..

used hemostats on the overflow tube, used the fill pump to pressurize the tank, even opened the needles a bit; nothing, no fuel ever came out from under the cover......

did loosen the top and pumped some fuel in under the cover, at least got some burping....we put fuel in the plug hole, we put fuel in the throat, we poured fuel from out of the cylinder  Cheesy Burpee only.

Al's bringing his million volt starter to the field next time - we'll gitter dun.  Angry

I make NO claim to "performance enhancing"...none whatsoever

and poof to all of you doubters......had the DLE 30 running today. nice clean run from idle to full, roughly 7000 brand new and rich. Was going to fly, but someone, who will remain un-named

not even that, I'm afraid... Dusty

on the down side - the 53, with new carb kit (the correct on e this time) is exhibiting the same problem. Easy start, great idle, good up to half throttle then sudden quit - seems lean. Needles are "way" out; so am I.. Cry

Well Mike; tried the pressure trick on the new DLE55 carb I put on the 53, with a difference. Instead of pressurizing the tank, i pulled the line off the carb and hooked the fuel pump directly to it....loosened the screws, turned the crank, and voila (that's French for bout time something worked right) there was fuel coming under the edge. Not a gusher, but the gasket was turning wet.

Hooked the tank back up, 4 flips on choke and "bark". Usual 7 on choke open and engine running!!!

Thank you kind sir, was great hint... Smiley
