The weather station is located at my home about 2kms from the field and gives real time forecasting of the field wind conditions.  The station is a Davis professional instrument with high accuracy. Most flyer's are interested in the wind and the station will measure the speed as current, 2min average, 10min average and the gust within those 10mins.  The 10min average and gust is what you want to look at to determine if it is too windy for you to fly.

To see the information first click on the "Avon Field Weather" tab on the forum main page. Click image to see the Forum Main Page.

Forum Main Page

This will bring up the Weather Web Page.  Here you can see the current wind speed and direction. If you wish click on the "Field orientation" tab on the forum main page and use the compass rose to see the wind direction in relation to the runway. Click image to see the Weather Web Page.

Weather Page

To see the "Weather Summary" click on "Summary" on the Weather Web Page, top right and side, and go to the bottom of the summary page. There you will see the wind 2min avg, 10min avg and gust wind speed in that 10min period. Click image to see the Weather Summary page.

Weather Summary

Good Flying.

Bruce

Nice to see Bruce.
It's quite disappointing to get all the way to the field and find that
it's far too windy to fly.

ILS going in on 09-270 Jack. Should be there by august.  Can't have our guys landing 1000 yards short of the runway
