Took quite a while to cut all the holes. A lot more stuff has been lighten then just what you see here. Almost a pound out of the old over designed kit.

If you look close you can see the hardwood spars are also replaced with a balsa carbon fiber laminated one. This stuff all adds up to unwanted weight.

i would agree with Jack
especially the frames and bulkheads
I would look at 1/64 ply doublers where there is fuse torsion

the biggest stress on an airframe [ in this case the empennage] comes in a manoeuver which is called a rolling pull-up

the landing gear shock loads have to be carried through the fuse

image yourself as part of the airframe and feel where the loads are distributing

Have you ever seen inside a modern 50cc size and up plane?
Trust me there's not much there and every gram counts.

Here's a shot of a foam core I did some years back. Foam and a couple carbon fiber strips held that together, and it's still going today
