Hey guys, I just wanted to get a few opinions on what I should put in this plane...

http://www.greatplanes.com/airplanes/gpma1281.html

I have an OS .46 AX ABL that came with it, but that's now in the nexstump, and probably should keep that in there for now. As far a new engines, I have been looking at a couple of different options...

First a NGH 9cc gasser...

http://www.amr-rc.com/index.php?path=content&SC=engines&SUBSC=engines&page=engin...

I have read some good and notsogood things about them. I think that the weight of the ignition will be offset but the weight savings in fuel... But I'm not 100% sure I want to move into gas and need to carry around multiple fuels jugs. AMR does have it in stock and it's $194 to the door.

The other engine I was also looking at was an OS .75 AX ABL

http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXRPD2

But don't know if that's too much. I'm sure most people will say put a four-stroke in her, but I'm not sure I have the funds right now to do that. I'm just wondering if y'all had one of these planes ready to be built what you would choose while being as economical as possible.

The NGH is a beautiful lookingotor and the folks at Troy BuIltModels had it on display at Top Gun. That motor will depend on if you need the nose weight, with the Ignition being part of it.

Hi Dave
Haven't found anything yet that compares to a four stroke. Nothing wrong with the other engines 2 stroke, gas, electric.  It all comes down to what you want. I like being able to prop down an engine so it is quiet and locked in . I have never felt that with all the other systems. If it was me I would go with what I could afford but down the road I would save for a four stroke.

Thanks Grant. I'm thinking of actually going with a OS .61 FX that Shane has and upgrading later like you said Smiley

Davey, Davey, Davey go Four Stroke, Four Stroke, Four Stroke.   Smiley  Just kidding, get the one from Shane; however, the four strokes sure have a sweet sound.

I have an asp 91 4 stroke in my hangar 9 spit and it works great.  It isn't a powerhouse but it holds a tune and works like a top.

Hi Dave
Not sure I can make it out this weekend ,but I plan on it.
Gonna take the old super coupe out of hybernation to try the new radio.
It has a YS 63 Four stroke in it . You are welcome to try it .if not come out to the flight line or in the pitt to get an idea on the power that these things make. Not all four strokes are the same but they all sound nice and I do believe they make a better flyer out of you, just because they are always pulling the model through the air even when landing .
The beauty with most of the four strokes is you can prop them down, larger prop diameter and increase pitch which allows for a better flying model.
Most people don't relized that a screaming two stroke is burning tons of fuel and parts are wearing out. It may present a challenge finding the right combo with a four stroke and there are more parts to contend with .
I have flown the coupe with both glow and four stroke, also my water planes and it is like night and day.
There I have rambled on enough.
Of course that what The Stone Age Crew do, don,t they?

Grant, I'll take you up on that offer. I have to admit I have been tempted to buy a 91 fs from rccanada, however I know the risks associated with that. What day are you thinking about heading out?

There will be lots of weekend Grant, no worries. I definitely would like to bend your ear a bit. I have be scouring the web and have been in contact with a seller with an OS FS-91 Surpass he's selling... I know that I'm breaking Bruce's first rule of engines... however desperate times call for desperate actions. It's a good deal and I may give it a shot (there's a sale pending on it, but it could still fall through) I also had someone offer up a Saito 80 for 145 shipped... I'm not sure it's a great deal or not. It's a reputable seller and it's apparently in good condition, but it's hard to find other used prices to compare to. I think that I'll be doing some reading tonight...

Final decision was the Saito 80. It's on its way. The seller has great feedback and I have an alright feeling about him. He recently replaced the bearings in the engine, and claims that it's in great shape. Hope that's the truth... We'll see in a week.

don't tell Twinkie - he ahhh doesn't think highly of Saitos. I, on the other hand, think they are a great engine...but no one cares what I think anyway so you can delete this comment..
