I plan to use red fabric coverite with a white sunburst scheme. A Saito .91 will be used for the powerplant. The tele will also sport nav lights.

Hi Brian: I find that if you use Teflon tape, tighten, then run the engine, and carefully tighten the lock nut again, it will never loosen. I rxed the check valve and will call you tomorrow. Bruce

Well I finally finished the Telemaster. Electronics are in and plane is balanced. Navigation lights and strobe are working great. Not a big thing nowadays; however, when I built the circuit board 10 years ago it would have been unique.

There is one very frustrating thing though. I used Coverite fabric red and the top coat is very tacky. I also noticed that the adhesive on the fabric is not aggressive like other coverings I have used, particularly when I used fabric balsarite on the framework.

I'm concern that the glow fuel will lift the seams. I'm experimenting with different clear satin finish spray paints to get rid of the tacky feel and seal the seams. So far, Krylon satin clear sprayed on some scrap material seems to do the trick.

At this point I would not recommend the Fabric red Coverite for any future project. Very tacky surface and poor adhesive properties. When you cover a plane with a pre-painted covering you expect it work as advertised!

Very tidy looking job Bruce; well done.

I'm interested in your comment on sealing the seams from glow with Krylon clear. I'm facing a similar issue trying to figure out what to use to clear coat my glow powered fighter (painted with latex). Up until I read your post I was thinking of using Varathane Clear Finish Professional in the black rattle can. Now I'll rethink that and check out Krylon.

Here's hoping that the Krylon eliminates the tacky feel from your covering.

Wait until I finish my tests with the scrape test piece. When it hardens thoroughly i'll subject it to glow and see if it resists the oil mix. I'll also apply heat to shrink the frabric and assess whether it affects the finish.

Just a thought, but I believe that varathane will yellow over time.
