Been planning on building an old school, nostalgic 15 500 pylon racer. I had a few “back in the day” and always loved the simplicity and speed. Found an old RCM 15 500 kit that was available for purchase and pulled the trigger.
Boy the kit boxes are sure smaller than an ARF boxes😉
Getting ready to start the construction of the plane and figured I might as well go all in and get a “hot” 40 size engine.
The engine arrived recently and all I can say about the Jett Aerotech, Sport Jett.46 is wow! Hand assembled by Dub Jett and a piece of glow engine jewellery. He test runs every engine before shipping,  pretty much carb low/mid range tuned and ready to go. Got it on the test stand today and got 16,900 rpm right out of the box on a APC 9x7 prop. Just needed a 1/16 of a turn leaner on the low speed needle to improve transition.
Will be flying the plane on an APC 9x6 prop or 8.8x8.5 Q40 racing prop and should see in air rpm of 17,700 to 18,200 rpm. Going to be a screamer! Hope my old eyes will be able to keep up with the plane ;)

They seem legit.  :violin

Claim ear protection up to 182db which coincidentally matches the expected RPM. I hope, with those, we will be able to endure the scream heavenly whine of the thing
