Check out the angle on the flaps on landing ... Wow.

Well; the serial number (PS890) indicates that it is part of a block of PR Mk XIX Griffon engined Spitfires.  Now....the contra rotating prop is confusing.  To the extent that my record books are accurate, all Mk XIXs were built with five bladed props.  So I'm left to assume that the prop on PS890 is a restoration mod and may not be historically accurate.

Doesn't change the fact that it rose off the ground right some smartly!

Sandy/Mike, seems obvious the counter rotating props help to track the roll out. I noticed it was straight as a die...
The flying characteristics must have been quite different as well.

Jack, I was going to suggest the Westland Wyvern. Very much the same prop set up looks like...Steve,
I believe all Spits and Hurri's had 1 flap setting - 80 deg that's it. Obviously they didn't use flap on take off  ::)

I think the philosophy was they were landing on farmers fields essentially, so they wanted brakes..... ;)
