Is there an "easy" way to learn this software (ie tutorial software), or does one just dedicate the hours to play on the screen hoping something seeps into the brain?   :wallbash

2D or 3D?

2D is easy.
draw line straight from a to b
use absolute coords to begin

use line parallel to at a distance, a lot
and perpendicular to line.

the snap is very important
set snap to end and midpoint to begin with

you should be able to draw rectangular shapes with this
use the dimension vertical and horizontal.

i know you haven't set the scale yet

thats lesson 2

scale
figure out what fits on papwe
in setup set orienation, portrait or landsape
what you set as oienation for the cad set same for the print orienation
choose scal
choose origin... you will have to figure out what to use. try 1, 1 for origina
that sets the origin from the bottom left
