Well I do find it shocking that we will have that many electrics. It is nice because with the current battery technology they produce great power at a good price... and they don't generate any resistance at any fields for obvious reasons. Even a lot of the retract systems for the larger planes are going electric instead of pneumatic.

Really excited to try Hobbyking's new nanotech a-spec competition series lipos.  Just waiting for hobbyking to stock the 6S 6000s.

HUH??  :-?

Well, on that note, I'm finally getting the transition from inverted level flight to vertical up line with a 3x4 roll on the center.... :D

Ahhh, Cool and i spent Saturday calling for each other in turn...might not scare the judges as bad this time round....BUT, last flight there was enough wind to give a direction, the opposite  to the right-left we've been flying all summer  >:(

omyomyomy, bit of a mind bender  :D

Well today i found out what the strange noise that sounds like a prop but not quite is. Apparently the beila three blade prop is delaminating along the seems???? It's unlikely I'll get a replacement in time so it looks like I'm out of this one >:(

run the largest 2 blade you have, and be careful on the throttle...OR, put some of that Hysol to good use.... ::)

Aw, he just figgers I might have a chance against him so is copping out... ::)   NOT.

First we thought it was just the motor box coming apart.... good catch Cool..  of course Cool does have a 50cc at home, just begging for a chance, but  :'(

pooor, foresaken li'l Extra, nice plane, just craving a chance to prove itself...just doesn't have unlimited vertical ..... sigh  [smiley=thumbdown.gif]

maybe if you asked your neighbor nicely Al could fly with a two blade :)

Sandy   The little extre doesn't have a pits style muffler.

Title: Re: September 1 contest
Post by Fingers on Aug 27th, 2012 at 3:34pm
well thats just the pits.   >:(    ooh, ooh, ooh! I know I know....take one of the pipes out of the 40%'er and put it in the 30%'er.....might hang out the tail end a bit but  8-)

not the neighbour Benn, field rules require certain noise levels - although I can't find where any specific db is listed - name of the game is fly the throttle and keep the noise down...

Well Sandy. it's not a rule to have a three blade prop.

I'm going to try the 30x13 with a reduced atv on the throttle on Friday and see how it works.

Avon September 2012

Overall, there were 14 pilots flying in the Avon September 2012 contest. In no particular order they were: Alan Coolen, Benn Lann, Brandon Smith, Brian Smyth, Chris Garrett, Dan Marchand, Dayle Smith, Kelly Doary, Mark Ramsay, Mike Magee, Mike Notley, Paul Sinnis, Sandy McInnis and Todd Fowler. These pilots flew a grand total of 156 judged sequences.

Brandon Smith won the Basic class. There were 4 pilots in Basic. The winning order was: (1) Brandon Smith, (2) Dayle Smith, (3) Brian Smyth and (4) Mike Magee. They flew 6 known sequences (3 rounds). The scores ranged from a low of 2,682.9 to a high of 3,996.8 (a range of 1,313.9 points).

Benn Lann won the Sportsman class. There were 6 pilots in Sportsman. The winning order was: (1) Benn Lann, (2) Mike Notley, (3) Paul Sinnis, (4) Chris Garrett, (5) Todd Fowler and (6) Dan Marchand. They flew 6 known sequences (3 rounds). The scores ranged from a low of 1,690.2 to a high of 3,985.3 (a range of 2,295.1 points).

Kelly Doary won the Intermediate class. There were 3 pilots in Intermediate. The winning order was: (1) Kelly Doary, (2) Alan Coolen and (3) Sandy McInnis. They flew 6 known sequences (3 rounds). The scores ranged from a low of 2,330.8 to a high of 4,000 (a range of 1,669.2 points).

Mark Ramsay won the Advanced class. There was 1 pilot in Advanced. The winning order was: (1) Mark Ramsay. He flew 3 known sequences (2 rounds).

The tightest competition was for 2nd place in the Sportsman class, with only 41 points difference between Mike Notley and Paul Sinnis.

The above report courtesy of "Report Writer" , a feature of the IMAC Score program. Individual scores can be made available if needed/desired. From my point of view it was a super contest, with great attendance.

It was indeed a pleasure to see Dayle Smith back in competition after about 20 years.. too bad (not really) son Brandon beat him  :D  It's always great to see newcomers giving SA a try, so welcome to Mike Magee, Tod (Twinkle Toes) Fowler, and Brandon. Brian Smyth and Dan Marchand came back to try again, and Chris Garrett is now considered an old-timer in his second year of competition.

It was a great event with a fantastic Chef cooking wild game, such as Moose, Deer, Muskrat and horse.  No animals were hurt in this event as it was all road kill lovingly inspected by Everett Miller.  It was delicious!!!  ;D ;D. I hope to get the Pictures up tonight in the Gallery. Great flying Ben! I enjoyed watching.

Pictures won't be up until tomorrow.  I left the SD card at Les's.
