Title: Elevons??
Post by Fingers on Jun 24th, 2012 at 12:11pm
trying to setup the mini pylon racer that Marc and the guys are flying at Havelock.... this is a flying wing like the Stryker, but much smaller...
In the 8FG you define the aircraft type, so I listed Flying wing with 2 aelerons just like the Stryker (in fact I just copied Stryker over)...BUT, this Park Racer has the servos on top of the wing instead of under. One servo is channel 1 and the other is channel 6 like the manual says, but I can't for the life of me get them to function as elevons and in the right direction.....

No where can I find elevons or ailevators on any of the menus, or in the manual....... HELP  >:(

It should be in the aircraft menu....keep looking it's there.

nope, nothing on any of the 4 menus....but, sat and looked at the plane for a bit, while "wiggling the sticks".. ok "for a bit" means 4 days so RMA;

swapped the 2 servo plugs and everything is going in the right direction...  :o dunno why but I'll take it..

so who's up for some mini pylon racing..

yupper, but surprised me there's no ailevators or elevons.... must be "assumed" when you select the aircraft type  >:( much too subtle for me  :-[

If it's not there then start over and select the right wing type in the setup part of a new model.
You have the wrong wing type.

nope, correct wing type.....works fine once I swapped the plugs/channels. This Foootaba assumes I know that selecting "flying wing/no tail" gives me elevons (doesn't say so anywhere in the manual, in fact elevons dos >:(en't even appear in the glossery....

Two words:

first word: J

second word: R

I wasted about an hour on Sunday at the heli FF trying to figure why i couldn't adjust the gain on a gyro with a futaba radio...apparently you have to, from the gain menu, actually tell it that you want it to addjust the gain.  I was ready to pee on the radio by the end of it.

yup, some of those junior radios, especially the ones that look like transformers, can give their users a false sense of security..... when they want to do something with a RADIO they can't navigate the menus......

much like me trying to find freaking "elevons"

I find the JR software more intuitive...as in it make sense and comes more natural.  I wished JR would come out with a radio to compete with the 18mz though.

I do notice a lot of the scale guys (top gun and such) use the junior. Just wish it didn't look like a transformer head

It scares me.  I keep thinking it is going to transform and do bad things to me.

These new young minds
remind me of my later years
coming into a company and making the same mistakes I had mad
now they know better
when is an elevon mix not an elevon mix
you can use the butterfly function but you need to take mind altering drugs to do it
when a new idea comes along
...reminds me of the baby's first word in "Meet the Fockers"

speaking of mind altering drugs... :-X

the 2 quotes included verify what I said on page 1...... if you select flying wing then elevons are assumed, and if they dont work right, change the 2 servo plugs......that is (for the astutely compromised) reverse them between #1 and #6
