Title: Tips For Dead-Stick Landing Engines (DLE)
Post by Joe  Di Profio on Apr 2nd, 2012 at 5:19pm
As many of us seem to opt for the less expensive DLE or (Dead-Stick Landing Engine), I am starting this thread so we can share info and work arounds for these substandard Chinese mutants.

http://www.flyinggiants.com/forums/showthread.php?t=57673&page=5

This link will show the use of a film canister to prevent these flameouts with the DLE. I mean every good airplane engine should have a film canister attached, no?

Please post your info, so that others may not suffer as my Hare has.

Cheers
Joe

Hmmm interesting Joe..  Mines running fine *knock on wood* but I'll give this a shot if it starts to act up.

Shane. Maybe you have the knack for these engines. You can have a crack at tuning mine if you like. Maybe Hop Sing screwed mine up at the plant.  ;D :D ;D

There is another thread on flying giants that talks about air bubbles in the fill line which was teed with the clunk

In any case a good tight fuel tank setup is important.  Any small leaks will give rise to a number of problems

Joe,

If nothing else works, I have a friend that has a couple of power hammers (50lb and 100lb) that might do the job ;)

Hahahahaa!!! Whitey will get pissed with all of this work he is doing to my cowl.

I had a look at the fuel system and everything looks tight. I will let the guys be the judge of that one in the final analysis.
