Title: Sunday April 1st - Pre-GM Flying?
Post by Davey Crockett on Mar 28th, 2012 at 9:19am
Bruce pointed out on Sunday that the long-term for April 1st is looking pretty nice. If the weather holds up I may try to do a little pre-gm flying and perhaps grab a bite to eat... Anyone else interested?

Dang!

I have to go to Fredericton for my Grandmother's funeral!

Bet this is the second weekend in a row that it will be perfect!!!

Have to go to PEI again next weekend also....

By the way, i have a 20 acre field in PEI just south of Montague and i mow a 400' runway every year to fly from....anyone interested in a fun fly some weekend over there?

It is 15 minutes from the ferry in Wood Islands.

Sorry to hear about your grandmother Brian. I'm sure there will be lots of great summer flying days to come... Hope everything is OK

Shit happens. Just deciding how best to proceed :)

The fire pit looked awfully inviting when I got home.

I have 8 years worth of carcasses I am getting ready to incinerate. I will let you guys know when the event will take place. Good excuse for a bonfire and bbq.

They are to beat up to rebuild Shane. I just ordered a cowl that will need to be painted, for the Extra 260. If I decide to leave the hobby, the Extra, Radio, Servos, Engine, receiver, batteries and wing bag will all go as a package deal. I also have another brand new Futaba 8 channel 2.4 receiver and digital metal gear servos that will go. The Florio is also geared up with a 7 channel Futaba 2.4 receiver. I have a whack of other stuff that will go as well. I will let you know. I will be making a decision this week.

Take care
Joe

Hey Sandy

As I am not a good builder, nor a good repair technician, it makes little sense for me to continue with the hobby at this point in time. I simply am WAY to busy to fly often, let alone learn to build and repair serious mishaps. I do enjoy the folks at the field, and that would be what I miss most. It is hard to justify the expense of the stuff just laying around in the basement collecting dust. Even when it is all in one piece. Sad but true.

Hey Joe. There's a lot of willing helping hands that would sure pitch in to get you back in the air. I will throw my hat in the ring if there's anything I can do to help. Maybe we could all have a night where we tackle it. Remember last summer at Margaree and the work we all did on Sandy's plane. We can do the same here. Open offer my friend. Hate to see you leave.

While I'm 100% sure my building and repair skills are worse than yours Joe, I'd be happy to bring some beer to a build day and keep you company while the doctor's operate. I don't wanna see you leave the hobby - I haven't been harassed nearly enough...

Hi Guys,

I do appreciate all of the help that you are offering, and have given me in the past. Please know this.

If I do decide to pack it in for few years, it has little to nothing to do with this particular incident, but rather a change of priorities and family responsibilities. I have found myself overwhelmed with finding a balance with obligations to family, home, work and a family business in Ontario. Any hobby has to play second and third to all, and I barely have enough time to do what has to be done.

I have ordered a cowl from Wild Hare. It is another scheme and will need to be painted to match the pube. That will be a learning curve all of it's own. Wild Hare is still in business, but has few parts and no planes in stock. They took a beating with the issues in the States. So, I had to buy what he had to offer.

I will be looking at and working on the plane as I have time, and will surely be calling upon one if not more of you to help out, regardless of my flying status. The cowl will be about two weeks getting here, so lots of time to think about that. It does need and deserve to be refurbished, as it is a great flying plane.

LOL... I may not be around often, but I will be around. The stupid Wild Hare will be rebuilt. I can only add to that, that I plan on sending an inter-galactic ass rocket to the DLE plant in China. Seems a huge number of folks are having untimely crashes with these 30cc's do to engine flame outs shortly after break in. No warning, no reason and very unpredictable. Not sure about the 55cc's.

Hi Joe,

Glad you decided to stick it out.

I run my own business and don't have a lot of time between my family, the business and my other house in PEI!
But, i have joined this club because it seems more like a club rather than a bunch of people that happen to fly in the same field.

Even if i only manage to fly every other weekend, i know that it is worth it.

See you at the field!

Brian
